Makunouchi Ippo is a 16-year-old high school student whose heavy workload helping his mother run the family business severely limits his social life, making him an easy target for local bullies. One day, while being beaten up by a group of high school students, Ippo is saved by a boxer named Mamoru Takamura, who brings him to the Kamogawa Boxing Gym.This intervention changes Ippo’s life forever, as he discovers a latent talent for boxing and decides to pursue the sport professionally. However, Mamoru doubts Ippo's true determination and assigns him a training task deemed impossible to complete. The resolute Ippo trains tirelessly to fulfill the mission. Along the way, he begins to uncover what it means to attain true strength, all while making new friends and facing formidable foes in the ring.
